"Farewell and Adieu to you fair Spanish ladies"...

Just watched "Jaws" again for the 167th time and it keeps gettin' better EVERY time I see it. I love so many things about this movie. The subtle tension of the unseen danger, the periodic comic relief, the wide shots of the scenic ocean vistas (which you only get with the wide-screen edition), the human drama of man versus nature...

It's fantastic film making. And there are so many little things you notice after so many viewings. The fear of a mother for her child - "Michael, did you hear your father? Out of the water, now! Now!

Hooper's face when he hears that Quint's removed tattoo is the "USS Indianapolis". "You were on the Indianapolis?"

Quint's look of incredulity when the shark goes under with three barrels. "You ever have one do this before?".

I smiled to myself when it became obvious that even Mrs. Gandalf really wanted to watch the whole movie but was so desperately tired because of the kids that she had to go to bed.

There are a handful of films that defined this generation. Among them is "Jaws" which made us terrified to swim in even fresh water and reminded us that there are forces of nature that we just cannot control. Bravo, Mr. Spielberg!
