Dan Rather Laments "Atmosphere Of Fear" In Today's Newsrooms
Fear of
accountability, that is.
However, poor Dan is now pushing his corporate conspiracy theories to explain why he couldn't get away with making wild accusations of a sitting President based on fabricated "evidence" even he agrees is suspect. Of course, in sticking to his Bush TANG story, Rather claims that even though the proof is fake the story is accurate.
Yeah, OK Dan. You just stick to your guns there. You see, Dan thinks he was merely hung out to dry by the powers that be because they couldn't take the heat. Addressing the Fordham Univ. School of Law in Manhattan, he spoke wistfully of the good old days of broadcast news.
"There was a connection between the leadership and the led . . . a sense of, 'we're in this together,"' Rather said. It's not that the then-leadership of CBS wasn't interested in shareholder value and profits, Rather said, but they also saw news as a public service. Rather said he knew very little of the intense pressure to remove him in the early 1970s because of his bosses' support.
Don't worry, Dan. The leadership and the "journalists" of the MSM are still in cahoots. It's just that you so profoundly lost your credibility last September, your bosses understood there was no getting it back.

There should be an atmosphere of fear, especially in the credibility department. There isn't a day that passes that another article of media bias does not arise in the blogosphere. There are numerous accounts of this liberal bias and misrepresentation that I have evidenced on my site. One would think with the public aware of the bias and deception these reporters of the MSM would not only be in fear, but also begin to report honestly.

this is not an argument starter, OR a defense of rather, but all news is biased. i know right-wingers say they like fox news because of the fair and balanced speil, but c'mon, you really like it because, in your eyes, they are reporting "the truth." just like looser lefties gravitate toward al "i used to be a comic but now i'm a political expert" franken on accout of their belief in his "journalistic mertit," right-leaning folks do the same in their quest for "real reporting" independent from the MSM. there's nothing wrong with that, in fact, it makes perfect sense: people look to news sources representative of their particular belief system because hearing "their news" read over the airways validates, in their eyes, it's authenticity. i just don't buy the fair and balanced act, for either side. right wingers like right wing news because it's their people, speaking their language, about their cause and the same goes for those on the left. if there was a "wacko peace-nut mother earth-lovin' punk rock news channel," i'd no doubt take that as the gospel truth as well. personally, i'd just as soon read the morning's "doonesbury" and turn the tv to catch an old "dr. who" episode on the BBC.
