Hello, this is me!

I’m GroovyVic and I’m usually found at my blog, Fiddle Dee Dee. Gary asked if I’d be interested in guest blogging, so I said “What the heck?” It’s because of Gary that I’m here in Munuviana, and he was one of the first blogs I found way back when I started blogging.

Like Gary, I’m also an “ex-donkey,” although from OH, a state beset by its own political hoo-ha. I’m ashamed to say I voted for BillyJeff back in ’92. But to defend myself, this was right after I’d graduated from a “hotbed of liberalism” state university, therefore I was still in that Lib mindset.

DonÂ’t worry, by the 1996 elections I had shifted to the Right and cast my vote for Bob Dole.

What brought about the change? Well, for one, I graduated from college and I had to get a job. Not in my field of study, I might add. (I’m an English teacher; at least that’s what it says on my degree.) But I had to get out there and be an “adult,” and in the course of working several jobs through a temp agency, I got to see a lot of, shall I say, abuses of the system.

I witnessed this in rather gross amounts when I worked for a credit union. Without going into detail, I saw enough to make me embrace self-accountability and small government. That, and I could take pride in earning my own money; when I saw my name on that paycheck, I knew I’d worked hard for what I got (after I paid for the “privilege” of working in a PA city).

To clarify, I was born and raised in PA, but moved to OH two years ago because of my husbandÂ’s job. HeÂ’s in the PA National Guard, and we moved so that he could be closer to work. For security reasons IÂ’m not allowed to say anything more than Husband is a Guardsman. I could tell you more, but then IÂ’d have to, you know, shoot you, and I donÂ’t want to be doing any more of that!
