Loading up the van

Loading up the van and heading down to Shea this morning. I'm taking Ryan to his first Mets home game (we saw them at Turner Field in Atlanta back in May). The little bugger's so excited!

Hopefully, with Bensen pitching (7 - 4, 3.40 ERA) the Mutts will be in decent shape, after losing a heartbreaker last night in the 9th. Looper sucks! Hovering a game over .500 they're about where I expected them to be at this point, although I'd hoped for better. Whatever.

Play Ball!

Also NY Giants update: all draft picks signed as of Tuesday. Injuries starting to plague the squad. Hopefully, they'll work and play smart the rest of the camp. Healthy guys, think healthy!

I've seen some bizarre spinning before, but...

Democrats lose a Congressional race in Ohio (special election) and they're warning Republicans - better watch out next time.
"Every Republican in Congress should consider himself put on notice," Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said of Tuesday's results.
Uh, oh. I'm scared now!

Number-cruncher Jayson at Polipundit traces just how low Dems have fallen in the last ten years. Losers.

I'm Back...

Made it back in pretty good time. I know it's old news but man was I pretty happy to pick up my complimentary USAToday (a paper they have to give away for free to get people to read it) at the hotel yesterday and see this story: Bolton's recess appointment.

It's especially gratifying that this particular move is a special "stick it" to the dickhole over here on the Left - CT Sen. Chris Dodd (D), who did everything in his (apparently non-existent) power to block Bolton getting an up or down vote by the full Senate.

From the AP:

Sen. Christopher Dodd of Connecticut, a senior Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said, "The president has done a real disservice to our nation by appointing an individual who lacks to the credibility to further U.S. interests at the United Nations."
And he also illustrated the irrelevance of Senator Dodd. Sweet. Go back to kissing Castro's ass, dude.

And as for all the Democrats pissing and moaning about the President using his Constitutionally-granted authority, Rich Galen of Mullings points out that President Clinton exercised this same authority 140 times - including the appointments of two ambassadors and a Secretary of Commerce.

So stop whining you losers! It's time for Representative Bolton to head over to Turtle Bay so the U.S. can stop deferring to an organization in which half its members are ruled by dictators, criminals and petty thugs.

A Blogoversary, some changes and a couple of announcements...

Today makes it six months for me. Whoop-De-Doo! For a laugh, you can check out that very first lame post here.

If you're a past visitor you may have noticed a revision of my Blogger profile, including a new picture. Anyone who cares can read about it in the updated FAQ section.

I've started a side project, another blog focused on J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. It's called Tolkien Geek. Basically, I plan on blogging the books - chapter for chapter - starting Labor Day weekend. It's still in a bit of an "under construction" mode, but there's some content up for anyone curious enough to go take a look. Anyone who has an interest in The Lord of the Rings (including the films) in particular, or Tolkien in general might find it amusing. But I wanted to put an alert out in advance.

Also, I will be traveling to Eastern PA with the family over the next few days so no posts until Wednesday night - and then only if I'm not completely exhaused.

In the meantime, I've added a few blogs to the roll that you can go check out: Blogmeister USA is another CT Blog I've learned of and there are new Blog Buds Pattishub, reverse_vampyr and Soccer Dad.
